And I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire,
and those who have the victory over the beast, over his image and over his mark
and over the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having harps of
God.

“The sea is designed to reflect the glory of
God. In chapter 4 its description ‘like unto crystal’ speaks of the holiness of
God. Here the sea mingled with fire speaks of divine judgment proceeding from
God’s holiness.” (Walvoord)

These are those who are victorious over the
beast through their faithfulness unto death. They are the tribulation martyrs,
described in Revelation
