“I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan’s
throne is. And you hold fast to My name,
and did not deny My faith even in the days in which Antipas was My faithful
martyr, who was killed among you, where satan dwells.

The throne of Satan refers to the
multitude of altars of false worship (Zeus, Athena, Dionysos, Asclepius,
Emperor worship and Magians) along with the demonic spirit of persecution plus
the teachings of Balaam and the Nicolaitans that were strong in that church.
The combination of these made Pergamos an oppressive satanic city.

As Rome was the center of Satan's
activity in the West so Pergamos was his "throne" in the East.
Satan’s throne or center of manifest power and activity is also in other
cities.
